Our Process

Discovery We believe great work starts with great collaboration. Successful communication of your message can only take place if we know what you know. The discovery stage of each project is where we learn all the nitty-gritty details. We can then apply this knowledge to design your solution from concept to final product.

Early Concepts After discovery we start with the early concept stage. Here we work through many different ideas that may never make it to the initial presentation. This process is necessary so we can arrive at the select group of concepts worthy for presentation to our clients. Depending on the nature of the project, we may start contacting outside vendors including printers, web developers, photographers, illustrators, etc. who will eventually help execute our design.

Curated Presentation We usually present at least three different concepts at the first presentation. Our goal is to make your selection as difficult as possible, where all the concepts could be considered great solutions. This is not a one-sided affair. We we want our presentations to be forums for collaboration between you and us, especially the first presentation. This is a critical meeting where you should be critiquing our first set of concepts. This is your opportunity to give us critical input so we can proceed towards a more refined direction. This is the time to tell us what you really think.

Refined Presentation This stage is where we take your critical input and start refining the chosen design direction. Copywriting is usually included at this point. If photography, illustration or any other specialty is required then this is where they join the team. Everything is starting to come together and the project is starting to look like a finished piece. It's time to contact outside vendors for production costs. We’re still open to critical input, but within the parameters of the chosen design. Otherwise there will be additional charges if we have to go back to revisit earlier concepts. Not to worry, this structured design process usually prevents us from having to backtrack. Once our internal team is satisfied with the results it's on to the final presentation.

Final Presentation Everyone should be thrilled with the final design at this point. This presentation is usually just a formality where we dot the i’s and cross the t’s. There shouldn't be many surprises. This is usually where you sign off on the project and we prepare to take it into production. More complex projects sometimes require several minor edits before you can sign off on it.

Deliverables You've approved the design and it's time to send the artwork to the vendors who will be producing the final piece. We confirm the specifications and send the artwork out for production. But our responsibilities do not end here. We will proof the project, including going on press if it's print collateral, to make sure it looks like the design you approved. Web development and video production include an extended proofing process. These types of projects will require you to be involved in the proofing stage as well. It's important that everyone involved in the project doesn't lose sight of the end goal now that we're so close to completion. Now it’s time to enjoy the successful results of our collaborative process!
